Mission*

The mission of the School of Teacher Education is threefold:

  1. to provide meaningful instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels that
    moves faculty, students, and constituents, from campus into community settings;
  2. to develop leadership among faculty, students, and constituents that inspires others across the various fields of education;
  3. and to ensure a tradition of research that makes a difference, through the work of faculty and students, students, and constituents who collaborate in asking important questions while exploring timely, significant issues related that can have an impact on the teaching and learning of all children and adults in today's world.
Commitment to mission is seen through activities including:

  • Contributions to the advancement of our disciplines by encouraging, supporting and sustaining individual and faculty scholarship;
  • Promoting diversity, equity, and global-mindedness among our students, faculty and community partners.
  • Contributions to the educational community through developing, assessing, and evaluating model programs for curriculum and instruction at the university level and at the pre-K-12 schools and adult educational institutions that are served by our programs.
  • Contributions to FSU students' development as citizens through programmatic attention to students' demonstration of "responsible freedom guided by ethical standards"
