Master of Science in Teaching (MosT)
If you are a graduate from an Arts and Sciences program and would like to
teach your subject specialty in the Florida public schools, this is the
program for you. Research has shown that Alternative Teacher Certification
Programs are more effective if the participants have a thorough grounding in
teaching fundamentals and field experience before they enter the classroom.
This program is designed to prepare effective and highly desirable teachers.
The MoST program is for baccalaureate graduates from the disciplines who
would like to become teachers. It is a 36-40 hour Master’s degree program
that includes the courses needed for a Florida Teaching Certificate.
Starting in fall 2009, the first cohort of MOST students will be taking
their core courses in Teaching Fundamentals, Applications of Educational
Psychology in the Classroom, and Literacy across the Disciplines together.
Courses in content area will also be taken, either in the College of
Education or in the College of Arts and Sciences.
