COE Academic Quality Committee

2007-2008

The Faculty Council By-Laws for the College of Education stipulate that the Academic Quality Committee's purpose "is to raise and hear issues related to the academic life of the College and its faculty. This committee will review and vote on doctoral directive status of applicants, and will also hear grade appeals that are filed within the College, as one part of the grade appeals process. In addition, it will consider academic issues such as (but not limited to) distance learning policies and initiatives, Ph.D. and Ed.D. core program requirements, doctoral committee membership issues, and appropriate venues for the dissemination of information about the academic work of the faculty of the College"

The committee meets once per month (typically the second Wednesday of every month.) Candidates should contact their departmental representative to determine the date of that meeting and have their applications into the committee before that time in order for the members to have an opportunity to review the materials. Questions should be directed to the departmental representative or the chairperson, Sherry Southerland (southerl@coe.fsu.edu).
