Graduate Scholarship and Fellowship Information
University Fellowship
The University Fellowship carries a stipend of $15,000. No duties are required but the fellowship holders must be full-time degree-seeking students during the tenure of the award. The fellowship is for the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters). The University Fellowship Program provides support for outstanding new and continuing graduate students to allow them to devote a year to intensive, full-time study in the chosen academic field. A matriculation and out-of-state tuition waiver for up to 12 hours will be provided. A student can hold the fellowship for a maximum of three years. To be considered for a University Fellowship in another year, the student must re-enter the competition, again submitting the application and supporting documents to the academic department. The University Fellowship is awarded to provide graduate students an opportunity to commit full time to their academic work. While some employment may be compatible with this commitment and the intent of the fellowship, full-time employment during the academic year either on or off campus is not compatible with the University Fellowship program. Part-time employment on campus or off requires approval by the department/school/college and the Office of Graduate Studies. Recipients will agree as a condition of acceptance of the University Fellowship to engage only in approved employment during the tenure of the fellowship. Some departments may have restrictions on their assistantships that preclude holding both an assistantship and a University Fellowship or which limit the total combined award.
