Educational Centers
Research and educational centers within the College of Education serve to supplement our academic mission and enhance the learning experience. Each offers support in a unique way, from administering research grants to providing lab and multimedia resources, and everything in between. The centers are a vital part of the college.
- Adult Learning Evaluation Center (ALEC):
The Center provides low cost psycho-educational evaluations for college students and other adults who may be experiencing scholastic difficulties due to a possible Learning Disability or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In addition to evaluation services, the center provides educational workshops and individual client coaching and maintains an ongoing research and training function. - Center for Educational Research and Policy Studies (CERPS):
The Center offers a venue of support and encouragement for research, evaluation and policy analysis on issues that are of critical importance to education -- in Florida, throughout the nation and beyond our borders. The Center is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to high quality intellectual inquiry and to the dissemination of research findings and products that throw new light on the major learning challenges of the 21st century. - Center for the Study of Technology in Counseling and Career Development:
The Center for the Study of Technology in Counseling and Career Development (the Tech Center) was established to assist practitioners, researchers, software developers, and policy makers in improving the design and use of computer applications in counseling and career development. The Center also assists practitioners, researchers, and policy makers in improving the cost-effectiveness of career services. Our Web site expands this mission to include serving individuals and students interested in career development and computer technology. - Center for the Study of Values in College Student Development:
The Center is an academic organization at Florida State University that sponsors research and publications, hosts professional meetings, and provides recognition programs on topics related to the moral and civic education of college students. - Curriculum Resource Center (CRC):
The Curriculum Resource Center serves the students and faculty of The Florida State University's College of Education by providing space for studying and access to publications. Faculty members can place any print materials for reserve in the CRC for students to check out and either photocopy or study in the Center. - The Hardee Center for Women in Higher Education:
The Center provides coordination, direction and focus in the areas of promoting women in management and administrative positions in higher education. The Center is committed to identifying and assisting in the solution of problems of women in both preparation for and placement in administrative positions in higher education. - Learning Resource Center (LRC):
The Learning Resource Center serves the students and faculty of the Florida State University's College of Education. The LRC provides support services as well as lab facilities, multimedia equipment, and classroom facilities. - Learning Systems Institute (LSI):
The Learning Systems Institute is a multidisciplinary organization located on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. It is dedicated to bridging the gap between research and practice in education and training. The institute develops practical and workable solutions in education and training based on solid research. - Tully Computer Lab:
A computer facility serving College of Education students and faculty. Students come to the lab to study, work on their assignments, and do research. The lab may be reserved for classes and examinations.
