Gershon Tenenbaum

PhD, Benjamin S. Bloom Professor of Education

Gershon Tennenbaum is the Benjamin S. Bloom Professor of Educational Psychology with the Department of Educational Research at Florida State University. He currently serves the university as an adjunct professor with the Department of Psychology, the Educational Psychology Program leader in the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems Faculty, major leader of Sport Psychology and chair of the Blue Ribbon committee for the College of Education. His research explores perceived exertion, probabilistic vs. deterministic approach to emotion-related performance zones (ERPZ), cognition and perception in sport, teaching learning processes, decision-making, research design, assessment and measurement in motor behavior and sport psychology. His career has spanned over twenty years, and included appointments in Israel and Australia. In addition to his numerous publications as a contributing author, Gershon Tennenbaum has served as editor and reviewer for The International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology, The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness, The Sport Psychologist, The Journal of Sport Psychology and The International Journal of Sport Psychology. He is the Past-president of the International Society of Sport Psychology and is currently the Editor of The International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. In addition to his numerous publications, Gershon Tennenbaum is an author, editor, or contributor to over fifty books, including Handbook of Sport Psychology, 3rd ed. (New York: Wiley, 2006). Gershon Tennenbaum received a Ph.D. in Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistical Analysis, with a minor in Psychology from the University of Chicago, a M.A. in Education Research and Theory from Tel Aviv University, and a B.A. and Coaching Certificate from Tel Aviv University and the Wingate Institute for Physical Education and Sport.
