Steven Pfeiffer

Ph.D., Professor, Educational Psychology and Learning Systems

Steven I. Pfeiffer is a professor in the department of educational psychology and learning systems department in the Florida State University College of Education and serves as director of clinical training for the combined program in counseling psychology and school psychology. One prominent accomplishment from a distinguished career of nearly 30 years was the development of the Gifted Rating Scales (GRS), a teacher rating scale based on a multidimensional model of giftedness that is designed to more accurately identify gifted students. The GRS was recently selected in the New York City school district to replace the intelligence quotient (IQ) test and is in use in more than 400 school districts nationwide. In addition to the GRS, Dr. Pfeiffer's research has been highlighted in numerous journals, and he has authored and co-authored several books. Pfeiffer received a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a M.A. in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a B.A. in Psychology from the State University of New York - Oneonta.
