Lora Cohen-Vogel
Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
Lora Cohen-Vogel, an assistant professor of education policy in the department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Florida State University, was awarded a $40,000 grant by the Spencer Foundation in 2007 to study school personnel policies. Dr. Cohen-Vogel is also leading two grant-funded studies on the development and impacts of state-funded programs that award high performing students with scholarships for college. She recently completed a study tracing the federal role in teacher education policy and has been awarded a research grant from the American Educational Research Association to consider the effects of certification policies. Dr. Cohen-Vogel's teaching and research focus is on education policy and the governance structures that facilitate or impede policy adoption, implementation and effectiveness. She has published articles in several journals, including The American Journal of Education, Educational Policy, Peabody Journal of Education and Journal of Educational Finance. She also serves on the advisory board for the Peabody Journal of Education. Cohen-Vogel received a Ph.D. in Leadership and Policy Studies from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. in Psychology from Colgate University.
