Application Procedures & Requirements
Social Science Education Masters/Specialist/Doctoral
Thank you for your interest in applying for our Masters/Specialist/Doctoral program in Social Science Education. Please print and then follow our additional departmental procedures requirements. Documents should be uploaded in the Supporting Documents page of the University Application.
Documents 1 - 4 are required and 5 - 8 are optional- Document 1, upload - Purpose Statement. The purpose statement should not exceed 250 words and should describe your purpose for pursuing a degree, qualifications, and long-term career goals

The letters should be written by persons who are in a position to comment on the likelihood of your success within the department. International students may substitute Confidential Report forms for letters of recommendation. Names and email addresses of your recommenders should be entered in the appropriate section of the University Application.
Program Admissions Criteria
- Two (2) official transcripts from all schools attended
- A Baccalaureate degree from an regionally accredited institution
- Earned a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 grading scale) in all work attempted while registered as an upper-division student working toward a bachelor’s degree
- *Combined GRE score of 1000 (verbal-400/quantitative-400); Doctoral combined score of 1100 (verbal-500/quatitative-600)
- Official TOEFL results are required of all international applicants whose native language is not English and who have not studied in an English-speaking country for at least one academic year. A minimum score 550 on the paper-based test, 215 on the computer-based test, or 80 on the internet-based test
*Exceptions as follows: evidence that you have taken and passed all sections of the College Level Academic Skills (CLAST) exam (prior to 2001; CLAST exemptions do not count); or, evidence that you have taken and passed the General Knowledge section of the Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE); or, evidence that you have taken and passed the Praxis I Exam, administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Please note that failure to submit all required documents will delay processing of your application. These requirements and criteria do not guarantee admission into the program. Admission depends on a variety of factors, including maximum allowable enrollment levels of the programs.
