Application Procedures & Requirements

Combined Doctoral Program in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology

Thank you for your interest in applying for our Doctoral Program in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology. Please print for your reference and follow our additional departmental procedures requirements. Documents should be uploaded in the Supporting Documents page of the University Application.

Documents 1 - 2 are required and 3 - 6 are optional

Document 1, upload - Purpose Statement. The purpose statement should describe your purpose for pursuing a degree, qualifications, and long-term career goals (two page maximum)
Document 2, upload - Current Resume/Curriculum Vitae
Document 3, upload - Unofficial GRE test score sheet
Document 4, upload - Unofficial TOEFL test score sheet (International Applicants Only)
Document 5, upload - Additional letters of recommendation
Document 6, upload - Scanned copies of transcripts

Three Letters of Recommendation are required

The letters should be written by persons who are in a position to comment on the likelihood of your success within the department. International students may substitute Confidential Report forms for letters of recommendation. Names and email addresses of your recommenders should be entered in the appropriate section of the University Application.

Program Admissions Criteria

Two (2) official transcripts from all schools attended (send one to the department and one to the office of graduate admissions).
A Baccalaureate degree from an regionally accredited institution
Earned a minimum 3.2 grade point average (on a 4.0 grading scale) in all work attempted while registered as an upper-division student working toward a bachelor’s degree.
Combined GRE score of 1000 (verbal-400/quantitative-400) The scores are only batched from the testing center once a month. Please submit
the score sheet that you receive in mail. It can uploaded to the online application.
Official TOEFL results are required of all international applicants whose native language is not English and who have not studied in an English-speaking country for at least one academic year. A minimum score 550 on the paper-based test, 215 on the computer-based test, or 80 on the internet-based test

Please note that failure to submit all required documents will delay processing of your application. These requirements and criteria do not guarantee admission into the program. Admission depends on a variety of factors, including maximum allowable enrollment levels of the programs.
