August 30 and October 18, 2007
Florida State University Alumni Center
Tallahassee, Florida
The College of Education at Florida State University is pleased to announce the First Annual Dean's Symposium Series. The purpose of the Series is to bring together researchers, state policy makers, and school district officials to discuss educational issues of critical importance to our state.
This year's series on Improving Teacher Quality will take place in Tallahassee on August 30, 2007 and October 18 at the Florida State University Alumni Center, 1030 West Tennessee Street. Florida's Class Size and Voluntary Pre-K amendments along with the STAR performance pay program have pushed teacher quality at all levels (PreK-16) to the top of the reform agenda in the state.
Leading researchers from across Florida and the nation will summarize current research findings and policy recommendations in these areas:
- teacher preparation,
- recruitment and retention of quality teachers,
- teacher certification and licensure,
- professional development, and
- teacher assessment and performance pay
Registration for the Series is $30. The fee includes lunch and refreshments on both days.
