Master's, Master's with Certification, Specialist, and Doctoral programs in science education are offered at Florida State University.

The faculty in Science Education are Dr. Victor Sampson, Dr. Nancy Davis, Dr. Alejandro J. Gallard, Dr. Sherry Southerland, Dr. George Dawson, and Dr. Penny Gilmer. Their research interests include:

  • reform of science teaching from kindergarten through the university,
  • the role of teacher beliefs in changing teaching practices,
  • the role of the Nature of Science in science literacy,
  • how we should approach Science for ALL.
  • multicultural issues in the teaching of science,
  • the cultural influences on the learning and teaching of science,
  • how conceptual change theory allows for an understanding of science teaching and learning, and the use of advanced electronic technologies in the development of science curricula.
