Research Interests

Dr. Ratliffe has taught Elementary Physical Education for 7 years and Teacher Education courses at the University level for 18 years. His areas of interest are children's physical education, teacher education, and fitness education. He and his wife co-authored the text, "Teaching Children Fitness: Becoming a Master Teacher". His published articles have appeared in the Journal of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, the Journal of Teaching in Physical Education, and The Physical Educator. He is presently column editor of "Active Healthy Lifestyles" for the Journal Teaching Elementary Physical Education. His present research interests focus on motor skill development of preschool children and measurement of physical activity levels of students in physical education classes.
