Vickie E. Lake is an associate professor of Early Childhood Education. As a former teacher, staff developer, and early childhood district coordinator, she has worked to further the efforts of high quality education for young children and effective practices for educators and schools. She teaches undergraduate courses in Curriculum and Methods, and Mathematics Methods and graduate courses in curriculum models, qualitative research, moral education, curriculum and play, and early care environments. Her current work examines natural and ethical care behaviors in mathematics and science preservice teaching, and the effects of service learning literacy tutoring on preservice teachers' knowledge of reading and young children's ability to read.
