Amy R. McKenzie, Ed.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Program on Visual Impairments. Prior to working at FSU, Dr. McKenzie served as the Program Coordinator for the University of Massachusetts Boston - Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments Master's Degree Program. She has worked as a Teacher of Student with Visual Impairments and a Deafblind Specialist prior to working at the university level. She currently serves on national and state committees in the field of visual impairment and deafblindness. Dr. McKenzie teaches a variety of courses at FSU in the area of teaching students with visual impairment on topics such as accommodations for academic students with visual impairments, social and career education, Nemeth Code, educational management for teachers of students with visual impairments, and deafblindness. Her research interests include the development of literacy skills in students with visual impairments and deafblindness, the use of paraprofessionals, and teacher preparation.
