Undergraduate Academic Advising

Advising is available in 108 Stone Building, Monday through Friday by professional Academic Support Coordinators and trained Peer Advisors. This advising is a service for College of Education students and those students classified as basic division students but interested in entering the College of Education as their academic career progresses. This page contains several printable forms to help students plan their progress within their respective tracks. Please feel free to print these out and contact your Advisors in 108 Stone Building each semester to ensure satisfactory progress.

College of Education Minimum Requirements for Admission

A student applies for upper division standing when they reach 60 credit hours, meet the minimum testing and GPA requirements, and fulfill the prerequisite course work. A student may reach the 60 hours by transferring an AA degree or by receiving the credits at FSU. A student may also obtain the credits by a combination of transfer work and FSU credit. Additionally, all students must pass all four sections of the CLAST for admission into teacher programs. For persons who are already exempt from the CLAST, The Florida Teacher Certification General Knowledge Test is acceptable in lieu of CLAST for admission.

Admission to Teacher Education

New FTCE Administrator

As of the September 8th, 2007 test date, the University of South Florida will cease to administer CEFEs (Certification Exams for Florida Educators). A private testing company, National Evaluation Systems, has been awarded the FTCE/FELE contract and will begin administering the new exams in October 2007.

Please note that the new company, NES, is no longer producing a print bulletin (like the old FTCE/FELE paper registration guide produced by USF). Registration for all portions of both exams is migrating to a web-based system, with online registration for paper-based testing beginning in July 2007.

Visit www.fl.nesinc.com to register for any portion of the FTCE or FELE, beginning with the October 13, 2007 administration. Online registration will be available during the regular, late, and emergency registration periods.

For information regarding FTCE or FELE exams to be administered on or before September 8, 2007, call (813) 974-2400 (option 8) or visit www.cefe.usf.edu.
