Faculty Efforts
A recent publication included in the journal Military Psychology was inspired in part by sport psychology researchers in the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems and FSU's Learning Systems Institute (LSI), along with colleagues from the University of Central Florida (UCF) and the Florida Institute of Human and Machine Cognition (FIHMC).
Four years ago, Professor Gershon Tenenbaum (COE) and Assistant Professor David Eccles (LSI) worked with Steve Fiore (UCF) and Robert Hoffman (FIHMC) to develop the idea of a special edition of the journal as a part of an interdisciplinary grant for which the team was applying. Ultimately, the grant was not funded but the special edition (titled Cognition, Competition and Coordination: Understanding Expertise in Sports and Its Relevance to Learning and Performance in the Military) was published and includes interdisciplinary research conducted at FSU.
The edition is included as a Supplement in Military Psychology, Volume 20, 2008, and includes the following papers focused on FSU-produced research:
