Ithel Jones (far left) and Vickie Lake (left), both associate professors in the College of Education’s School of Teacher Education, received the 2007 Eastern Educational Research Association (EERA) Distinguished Paper Award at the annual conference in March.
Their paper, titled “Caring Practices With All Children? Pre-Service Teachers? Self Analyses of Teacher Child Interactions” was chosen by a panel of independent, peer reviewers. Jones and Lake have been invited to present their paper at a special American Educational Research Association (AERA) session of “distinguished papers” from State and Regional Educational Research Associations (SRERA).
“This study is a continuation of theory-to-practice research on early childhood mathematics and science methods courses that started in 2002,” said Lake. “In this paper we introduced and tested a new theoretical framework. It is extremely validating to receive such positive feedback from our peers.”
Jones, who is receiving this award for the third time in his career, says “I have been honored to present several papers at EERA over the past decade and it is highly gratifying to know that our work at FSU is valued by our peers”.
EERA strives to encourage the growth and improvement of educational research by promoting quality educational research and providing a forum for its dissemination.
