SPORT

SPORT (Sport Psychology Organization and Research Team) is a student lead graduate organization developed to foster professional development within the field of sport and exercise psychology. Through collaborative student efforts, SPORT promotes the development of competent practitioners and academicians by facilitating student research (conference presentations and publications), promoting public outreach (local presentations, newspaper and magazine articles, and hosting conferences), and offering professional development workshops. By undertaking these projects, SPORT seeks to provide experience and create opportunities to help members prepare for future employment.

The Sport Psychology Organization & Research Team (SPORT) is proud to announce the 4th annual FSU SPEAR Conference, on February17th and 18th, 2012. This time, we invited international speakers to our conference.

This year’s conference theme is “Embracing Multiculturalism and Diversity in the Arts, Sports, and Sciences”. The conference will focus on discussing humanrights, cross-cultural sensitivity, intercultural competence, gender identity, multilingualism, religious pluralism, artistic diversity, polyethnicity, racialequality, and lifespan integration. Scholars, students, professionals, athletes, musicians, and artists from various domains and diverse backgrounds will form a “cultural mosaic” rooted in both empirical and phenomenological knowledge.

The Sport Psychology Organization & Research Team (SPORT) is proud to announce the 3rd annual FSU SPEAR Conference, on February18th and 19th, 2011.

This year’s conference theme is Expertise Across Domains. The focus of the conference will be on examining the various topics related to expert performance in various domains (e.g., sports, education, fine arts, medicine, business and entertainment). Examples of some related topics are: developing experts, the process of recruiting, issues in defining, measuring and capturing expertise, working with gifted individuals, the nature-nurture debate, technology and the future of expertise.

The Sport Psychology Organization & Research Team (SPORT) would like to thank everyone that attended the 2nd Annual SPEAR Sport Science Conference. The conference was a success and a great learning experience for all. We had some great collaborative work from graduate students across different programs within Florida State and would like to thank all of them for their hard work. 
 
We would like to send a special thank you to all our key speakers in taking the time to share their expertise in their fields. Dr. John Lata (Florida State Director of Student-Athlete Service), Dr. Don Rapp (Expert on Gerontology and Creativity), Dr. Neil Charness (Professor of Cognitive Psychology), Dr. Lynn Panton (Professor of Exercise Physiology), Dr. Gershon Tenenbaum (Professor of Sport Psychology), Dr. Robert Eklund (Professor of Sport Psychology), and our 2010 Keynote speaker Mark Krikorian (Florida State Women’s Soccer Coach).
