The College of Education fosters high academic standards, promotes technological literacy, addresses issues of diversity, engages in scientific inquiry, and maintains collaborative partnerships to develop educational leaders who value life-long learning. With our award-winning faculty, our programs have consistently ranked among the best in the nation, and the college also ranks in the top 20 colleges of education in terms of doctoral degrees awarded in the latest Survey of Earned Doctorates. Our Professional Education Unit (PEU) at the Florida State University has been accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) since 1954. The unit is comprised of programs and educators from throughout the FSU campus. The PEU is a dynamic entity that celebrates “instruction that moves, leadership that inspires, and scholarship that makes a difference for the 21st century” (as reflected in our conceptual framework).

We offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs in 40 fields of study, preparing teachers and a variety of human service practitioners for a wide range of educational careers in private and public settings. Students work with faculty to improve primary and secondary education throughout Florida and the nation with a foundation of strong academic preparation and extensive classroom experience. The college's programs are based on the belief that mastery of an academic discipline is the essential element to effective teaching and educational leadership. The college prides itself on training a new generation of educational leaders with vision, innovation, and energy to spark the creativity present in every potential learner.
